About

Established in 1971

The original building of Peace Lutheran Church

Peace Lutheran church had its start when two smaller churches Lebanon (LCA) and Trinity (ALC) voted to merge into one congregation, the vote having passed on April 25, 1971. They made it official on July 14 when a constitution was adopted, Pastors Baldwin & Nelson were called and Peace was chosen as the new name for the congregation.

Council Updates

June 2021 Council Update

Here is my June Council Report. If you have questions please contact me or any other member of the council. Thank you in advance for reading my monthly report.
THANK YOU: Firstly I wish to thank our congregation as income continues to cover our expenses. Please continue to give as your financial situation allows. My second thank you goes to two people working behind the scenes insuring that Peace Lutheran continues a strong ministry as we ease out of COVID. The two are Julie Muffley in the office and Mike Lagergren who is a one man part time custodian. Both of these individuals have worked way above the hours they are paid for. As a token of appreciation the council voted to give each of then a one time bonus of $500. A third thank you goes to the individuals responsible for the amazing Miller Time production. What a wonderful spiritual experience. So thanks to Pastor Kathy Hartley, Brian and Sherry Pearson, Sharon Nelson and Deb Wessling and to all the musical performers and pastors and speakers that made this a fantastic event. Lastly I thank Bill Miller for all the years of devoted prayer ministry and music at Peace Lutheran and other churches and organizations in our area.
GYM FLOOR: We have signed a contact to get the gym floor finished. Work will start sometime after the July 18th celebration of 50 years of Peace. We do need to be able to use the gym for the celebration and book sale thus a later summer start date.
50 YEARS OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH: Our July18th Celebration is taking shape. Activities will start on Saturday with a float in the New London Water Days Parade. The Sunday Worship Service starts at 9 o’clock with Bishop Jon Anderson preaching and Pastor Todd being installed as lead pastor of Peace. Peace Lutheran will NOT have a worship services at Shores of St Andrew on that date. A catered luncheon of egg bake etc. will follow worship. We are planning activities for our youth and Dan Leite will have a display of historical items. Rambow Inc. has donated tee shirts to be given away and we have prepared a commemorative booklet of Peace Lutheran History. To help cover expenses we will accept a free will offering. We are planning some type of RSVP invitation to the luncheon so as to get an approximate lunch count needed by McKale’s Catering. Please reply to our invitation if at all possible when it is sent by the church office.
SANCTUARY PROJECTORS: You have no doubt noticed the dim lighting from our wall projectors in the sanctuary. The Council has asked the Technology Committee to look into the problem and suggest a remedy.
